Job Overview

As a Vehicle Maintenance Mechanic 2, you’ll repair and maintain various resort fleet equipment, including light vehicles, heavy equipment, and snowcats so that resort operations relying upon this equipment runs efficiently and safely with minimal to no interruptions in service.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Repair fleet and resort motorized equipment as assigned to provide optimal equipment availability, safety, useful life and running time.
  • Record all mechanical work performed on maintenance work orders, record inventory and parts used and keep other records as necessary to assure accurate and complete maintenance histories.
  • Follow all safety procedures and practices to protect and assure personal safety and the safety of co-workers, equipment operators, the equipment and facilities.
  • Clean and organize the shop bays, tools, parts areas and general shop facilities in order to provide safe working conditions and efficient shop operations.
  • Record parts used and note parts to be purchased in order to assure proper parts are available when needed to reduce downtime and delay.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

WHAT YOU NEED TO GET THE JOB DONE

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Technical or mechanical training or apprenticeship program in diesel, truck, automotive mechanics or related specialties.
  • 1-2 years of job-specific work experience with demonstrated competence.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must be able to ski or snowboard.
  • Valid Driver License w/ Clean MVR
  • Demonstrated competence in the field of diesel and automotive mechanics; knowledge of skills with gasoline and diesel automotive engines, small gasoline engines,hydraulics, electrical systems, basic welding and hydro-static transmissions desirable.
  • Proven ability to follow manufacturers’ guidelines and procedures work safely.
  • Ability to problem solve and diagnose a variety of mechanical problems.
  • Knowledge of automobiles, heavy construction equipment, snowplows and light equipment such as: snowmobiles, ATV’s, snow blowers and lawn mowers.
  • Ability to read and write, perform simple mathematics with accuracy, and follow directions and procedures. Ability to maintain accurate records of work performed, record parts orders and work orders.
  • Must be able to perform basic functions on a PC or tablet such as internet access and electronic work order updating.
  • Must be able to lift 100 lbs.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
  • Must demonstrate ability to bend, kneel, handle, reach, grasp and perform repetitive motions.
  • Work is outdoors and requires constant exposure to cold and other extreme weather conditions.
  • Work is subject to frequent interruptions making continuity and accuracy difficult, frequent exposure to noise.

WORK SCHEDULE

  • Shifts typically 7:00AM – 5:30AM.
  • 4 day x 10 hour schedule. Specific days of the week are negotiable.
  • Some weekends and holidays required.
  • Occasional overtime possible.
  • Must be prepared to stay overnight if necessary on occasional times of road closures.
  • May experience unusual stress from continual work with public, winter conditions, snow night requirements and commuting to/from Snowbird.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Travel: Occasional trips to Salt Lake Valley.
  • Occasional contact with guests.
  • Direct and continuous contact with co-workers, management, and other departments.
  • Must have the ability to interact at any time with guests and other employees in a pleasant manner and maintain good working relationships with others and all departments at Snowbird.
