Job Overview

As Sr Manager of Banquets, we are seeking an energetic and well-organized manager to provide our customers with a first-class banquet experience. This position will oversee the Banquet Managers as part of the Food and Beverage Management Team.  You will be responsible for training the Banquet Team and overseeing the execution of events per the Banquet Event Orders. You will work closely with the Conference Services and Culinary Teams to provide an exceptional experience for booked events. Your duties will include controlling the cost and quality of services, preparing the venue, and coordinating the service of meals.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Oversee day to day operations of the Banquet Team, guiding and supporting managers and captains with selection and training, shift scheduling and job sharing, and performance management of staff, purchase and control of inventory, alcohol compliance and licensing. Audit beverage inventories as directed.
  • Ensures schedules are written to meet and or exceed resort guests’ expectations and ensure that all orders necessary to fulfill Banquet Event Orders meet the needs of the event.
  • Perform all duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Catering Sales, Services and Operations.
  • Answering customers’ questions and accommodating special requests.
  • Support, lead, and direct the Banquet Management Team and supervisors and their teams, with focus on providing consistent and timely services and support to the groups and businesses using our conference facilities, and quality and consistent catering (food and service) to each customer group.
  • Provide feedback, instruction, and direction to the Banquet Team.
  • Manages, trains, and leads the department staff to ensure client satisfaction and performance. Acts as liaison between Conference Services/Catering Managers and Banquet Team to operate the department efficiently and effectively.
  • Available for staff and clients as needed to support them in resolving any problems or conflicts to maximize guest satisfaction.
  • Be familiar with all services and products from primary and secondary competitors to maintain Snowbird as a competitive choice for the client.
  • Maintenance and care of equipment and supplies.
  • Planning the venue and food layout in coordination with the culinary team according to the number of guests and the type of event.
  • Work closely with the culinary team to establish and uphold SOP’s in regard to set up, event coordination and execution and breakdown.
  • Determining the number of staff needed to deliver world class service on all events.
  • Supervising the placement of tables, chairs, cutlery, plates, glasses, table linens, centerpieces, heating lamps, serving utensils, and carving stations.
  • Consulting with the Culinary Team regarding the timing of meal courses to be served.
  • Overseeing the seating of guests, the serving of meals and beverages, and the clearing of tables.
  • Preparing work schedules and completing documentation in a timely manner.
  • Hands on all events as needed to support the Banquet team and deliver World Class Service.

WHAT YOU NEED TO GET THE JOB DONE

  • 5-7 years of Banquet Operation experience in a similar resort environment.
  • Proficiency in catering management software, such as Amadeus Sales and Catering, Info-Genesis.
  • Exceptional ability to plan banquets and meet deadlines.
  • Experience in supervising banquet venue staff.
  • Extensive knowledge of catering equipment and venue requirements.
  • In-depth knowledge of hospitality industry best practices.

WORK SCHEDULE

  • Shifts vary, from early morning to late evening, weekends, holidays depending on business requirements.
  • Long days required as business levels dictate.
  • Requires weekend/holiday availability.
