Job Overview

As a Snowmaker you will work Under the direction of the Director of Hill Maintenance and the Snowmaking Supervisor to maintain the snow guns, hoses, hydrant, and pump when snowmaking is operational.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Operate and maintain snowmaking equipment.
  • Constant relocation of guns and hoses to various areas around the mountain.  This requires large amounts of hiking and use of snowmobiles.
  • Comply with all safety procedures within Mountain Operations.
  • Complete nightly work and maintenance logs.
  • Accurately report malfunctions of the snowmaking equipment to the supervisor.

WHAT YOU NEED TO GET THE JOB DONE

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must be able to ski or snowboard and pass a knee physical.
  • No certifications are needed for this position.
  • Must have the ability to interact at any time with guests and other employees in a pleasant manner and maintain good working relationships with others and all departments at Snowbird.
  • Must be a competent skier or boarder.
  • Requires some mechanical skills.
  • Requires interpersonal skills sufficient to work closely with other snowmakers.

WORK SCHEDULE

  • 4 x 12-hour shifts, 4 days per week.
  • Shifts: noon to 12 am or 12 am to noon (graveyard).
  • Must be able to work any day of the week including weekends and holidays.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Must be prepared to stay overnight, if necessary, at occasional times of road closures.
  • May experience unusual stress from continual work with public, winter conditions, snow night requirements and commuting to/from Snowbird.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
  • Must demonstrate ability to bend, kneel, handle, reach, grasp and perform repetitive motions.
  • Work is outdoors and requires constant exposure to cold and other extreme weather conditions.
  • Work is subject to frequent interruptions making continuity and accuracy difficult, frequent exposure to noise.
