Hourly Wage: $13-$15 depending on experience

TITLE: Prep Cook

DEPARTMENT: Food and Beverage

GENERAL PURPOSE

Prepare cold food items in accordance with production requirements while maintaining all food preparation standards in a safe, accident-free environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides support for kitchen staff including the performance of tasks like chopping ingredients, sanitizing work stations and storing food.
  • Cut, slice, and prepare food according to specifications.
  • Maintain proper pars of production levels according to estimates on the production sheets; maintain top quality freshness.
  • Label and date all food.
  • Maintain clean and orderly refrigerators and work areas.
  • Make sure that all stations are adequately cleaned at the end of shift and the end of the evening.
  • Rotate all foods and correctly fill out production charts.
  • During peak business periods, coordinate and expedite to accelerate service.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of cold prep, proper knife handling, to maintain appropriate temperature, sanitation, light dessert knowledge.

Skills

  • Must have a minimal hearing to hear timers; coordinate with other kitchen staff.
  • Must have the moderate vision to check food quality.
  • Must have minimal speech communication skills to read production charts/recipes.
  • Position regularly involves standing and walking for up to 8 hours a day
  • Must be able to lift food cases and metros weighing up to 70 lbs. Pushing and pulling carts are required.
  • Regular bending to lift items and supplies.

Education/Formal Training

  • High school education or equivalent experience.
