Job Overview:
The Utah State Fairpark is seeking an experienced and motivated Food and Beverage Manager to lead and oversee all food and beverage operations across the Fairpark. This role will be responsible for ensuring high-quality service and a memorable guest experience at events, including fairs, festivals, concerts, corporate gatherings, and cultural celebrations. The ideal candidate will be skilled in managing a diverse range of food and beverage services, developing relationships with vendors, and ensuring compliance with health and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Food & Beverage Operations
    • Oversee all food and beverage services (including alcohol and non-alcoholic options) on Fairpark property and, occasionally, at off-site partner locations.
    • Manage food and beverage services for a variety of events, including the Utah State Fair, concerts, banquets, corporate events, festivals, trade shows, rodeos, and other community and private events.
    • Ensure the highest standards of food safety, sanitation, and guest service are consistently maintained.
  2. Vendor and Partner Management
    • Select, manage, and coordinate with contracted food trucks, food stands, catering partners, and other food and beverage vendors.
    • Solicit and secure concessionaires for the annual state fair. Design strategic vendor layout, work with operations for onsite electrical needs for vendors.
    • Oversee vendors within permanent Fairpark locations and leased spaces, ensuring they meet the quality and service expectations of Fairpark events and patrons.
    • Establish strong relationships with local food and beverage providers, caterers, and other relevant suppliers.
  3. Facility and Equipment Maintenance
    • Collaborate with the operations team to inspect and maintain food stalls, kitchens, and leased spaces, including equipment, appliances, and fixtures.
    • Coordinate maintenance and upkeep efforts with vendors to ensure compliance with health, safety, and sanitation standards.
  4. Financial Management
    • Oversee budgeting, pricing, and financial reporting for food and beverage operations.
    • Track financial performance against key metrics and department goals.
    • Ensure cost-effective operations while delivering high-quality guest experiences.
    • Track inventory, manage costs, and ensure appropriate supply levels for all events.
  5. Team Leadership
    • Provide guidance to promote an efficient, service-oriented team.
    • Foster a positive work environment that encourages high performance, teamwork, and staff development.
  6. Event Coordination
    • Work closely with event organizers to understand specific food and beverage needs for each event.
    • Collaborate with Fairpark departments to coordinate logistics and service requirements, ensuring smooth and successful event execution.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in restaurant/food and beverage management, preferably in an events-focused environment.
  • Degree in Hospitality Management, Culinary Arts, or related field a bonus.
  • Proven experience managing a variety of food service operations, including vendor management and budget oversight.
  • Strong knowledge of beer and alcohol regulations, as well as health, safety, and sanitation regulations.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze, formulate solutions and alternatives and to efficiently resolve conflicts.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple events simultaneously.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by event schedules.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to lift 30 lbs., standing and walking for long hours. Sitting, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, pushing, pulling.
  • Ability to work in temperatures exceeding 95 degrees.
