Job Overview
The banquet manager is a key member and leader of the banquets team ensuring proper set up and service standards are met for all banquet functions. Their direction and understanding of the banquet process is imperative to the overall success of an event. This role is responsible for training, holding team members accountable to the mission and core values of the company while creating an inspiring hospitality experience for the guest.
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Coordinates functions with set-up, service staff associates and Banquet Chef
- Achieves guest satisfaction through effective supervision
- Checks food quality and courteous performance of entire banquet staff
- Orchestrates service staff on functions and procedure of service
- Establishes high standards of quality service and maintains those standards with effective training and continuous adjustments
- Maintains equipment and par levels
- Maintains records, reports, closing reports and payroll costs
- Inspects function space(s) and submits work orders for engineering
- Conscious of business levels. Reacts quickly by increasing/decreasing labor
- Maximizes profits through effective management techniques in conjunction with guest satisfaction
- Consistently self-educates on banquet food and wine trends
- Effectively communicates guest concerns to other departments
- Ensure that standards and a consistent level of guest satisfaction are met
- Lead daily staff stand-ups • Establish AM/PM checklist. Ensure all reports and checklists completed timely
- Monitor guest requests to ensure they are met within the prescribed time limits
- Support a positive work environment of employee growth and development
- Follow all company safety and security policies
- Effectively engage in the service recovery process
- Participate in resort meetings
- Respond to alerts in Medallia and on social media
- Communicate hours of operations, and group information daily
- Train, develop, supervise and coach front and back of house banquet staff
- Responsible for recruiting and hiring of banquet associates
- Responsible for processing payroll in a timely manner
- Responsible for covering shifts in the event of call-offs of staff
- Responsible for providing weekend and holiday coverage
- Complete any assignments or projects assigned by the Director of F&B or General Manager
Qualifications:
- At least four (4) years of previous Banquet experience in hotel setting preferred
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Some college preferred
- Exceptional people skills preferred
- Must be detail oriented, have excellent communication skills, and the ability to perform professionally under high levels of stress
- Computer skills required
- Extremely flexible schedule. Able to work nights and weekends required
- 40 to 50-hour work week required
The Hotel functions seven days a week and 24-hours a day. All employees, both management and hourly, must realize, at times, it may be necessary to move an employee from their accustomed shift so support business demands.
