Position Requirements

Candidate must have the following skills and experience:

  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Must be able to effectively work with very little or no supervision
  • Must be a leader, a driver and bottom line oriented
  • Previous Sales Experience with Marriott (preferred)
  • Be incredibly friendly, customer centric, love to smile and have fun in a team environment. Creativity, enthusiasm, passion and drive are required to be successful in this position
  • 2-5 years of hotel sales leadership experience, knowledge of local and State area a plus!
  • Hands-on professional with a passion to motivate others and a willingness to personally demonstrate a successful method of selling beyond goals and expectations
  • Have knowledge and experience in writing, directing and executing marketing and action plans annually and quarterly
  • Extensive experience in managing the daily operations, directing the effort, executing and exceeding weekly sales call goals, teleprospecting calls, hotel site tours and cold calls goals
  • Effective communication skills to establish strong customer relationships and repeat business opportunities through a pro-active leadership style
  • Managing the sales effort through forecasting, budgeting and yield management to achieve and exceed top line goals
  • Drive revenues through new business opportunities and develop a strong customer base
  • Pro-active sales approach to saturate and penetrate accounts that meet the hotels goals
  • Professional and effective written correspondence, proposals, bids and follow-up must be demonstrated
  • Develop and maintain good relationships with officials and representatives of local community groups and companies to generate convention and group business
  • Maintain clear records of all transactions and account management
  • Is present and actively involved with all revenue management calls 
  • Understands STR report and trends/rates in the market

Owned and operated by the Protel Group, the Springhill Suites by Marriott in Downtown Salt Lake City, Utah, is searching for an experienced hotel Director of Sales. If you are an experienced Sales Manager or Sales Coordinator with a vibrant personality looking to move up, please apply, we would love to hear from you.

As a Director of Sales, you will fill a vital role by implementing the total sales and marketing efforts of the hotel, including securing new accounts, maintaining existing accounts, supervising sales activities and training within the hotel staff, and executing sales and marketing strategies to maximize the profitability of the hotel while maintaining customer satisfaction.
