Position Description

PURPOSE OF POSITION: Responsible for the management and day-to-day operations of the Front Office/Guest Service department


  • Minimum three years management experience in luxury hotel.
  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Comfortable with high owner and guest exposure
  • Basic comprehension of Microsoft Office suite of software
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment including constantly reprioritizing various requests
  • Participation in and leading regular operation meetings
  • Assist in the formulation of strategic business and service plans
  • Monitoring monthly reporting systems to help ensure various company, property and fiscal requirements
  • Monitoring and handling guest complaints expeditiously to complete resolution or escalating as necessary
  • Mentor staff and lead team to success
  • Create and ensure an open-door policy for associates, owners and guests
  • Deer Valley Resort requires that all drivers must have a clean drivers license, be at least 21 years of age and have a minimum of four years of driving experience preferably in snow conditions


  • Manage, train, recruit, develop, motivate, provide feedback to and evaluate performance of a highly effective team including front desk, concierge and bellmen to ensure guest, owner and associate satisfaction
  • Provide training to include customer service, safety and departmental policies and procedures
  • Interact with guests, owners and associates helping execute owner and guest requests and service suggestions where appropriate
  • Work with other departments as needed to foster a spirit of teamwork and cooperation
  • Adhere to company HR hiring and termination guidelines.
  • Implement disciplinary actions and documentation if required
  • Participate in any internal or external manager’s meetings and trainings
  • Ensure staff participation in various property and DVR training programs
  • Ensure staffing is appropriate to occupancy and service standards
  • Participate in pre-arrival and owner unit inspections
  • Ensure schedules are posted in a timely manner and are reflective of business volume
  • Participate in monthly review of financial statements to ensure accuracy and to better understand the financial status of the managed department as well as the company in whole
  • Ensure that monthly HOA and owner billing is completed accurately and in a timely manner if applicable
  • Participate in the monthly review of owner statements for accuracy for owners and the management company if applicable
  • Help process invoices for timely payment and maintain files for back-up accounting purposes
  • Ensure performance reviews are complete for seasonal and full time year round staff
  • Work closely with the Front Desk Supervisors for proper reconciliation of lift tickets, gift cards and vouchers
  • Possess strong interpersonal verbal and written communication skills and the ability to develop professional relationships with Association Board of Directors, homeowners, guests and staff
  • Possess tremendous patience and understanding, superior problem solving skills and have a great sense of humor and professional demeanor
  • Must be able to multi-task, be organized, and prioritize effectively
  • Working knowledge of budgets and front office accounting procedures
  • Working knowledge of HOA management and specific governing documents
  • Must have experience in management of condo rental program, including owner relations and solicitation of owners
  • Working knowledge of Maestro, Kronos and SuccesFactors
  • Must be able to manage the staff required for the daily operations of The Goldener Hirsch Inn, including the HOAs, management only and rental management residences in contract with DVRL&M
  • Other duties as assigned by General Manager or as business volume dictates
