| Position Description |
Solicit group business that enables the hotel to meet and/or exceed revenue goals. This position is designated for the local market (state of Utah), as such; the majority of the time spent in this position will be making sales calls on a face to face basis, along with taking an active role in the local market place by attending networking events, chamber functions and the local MPI chapter. § Solicit new and existing accounts to meet/exceed revenue goals through telephone solicitation, outside sales calls, site inspections and written communication. Including face to face sales calls in the local area on a weekly basis. § Prepare correspondence to customers, internal booking reports and file maintenance. § Participate in daily business review meeting, preconvention meetings, training and other sales related meetings as required. § Work with other departments within the hotel to provide quality service to customers. § Attend trade shows, community events and industry meetings. Develop/maintain knowledge of market trends, competition and customers. § Maintains high visibility in the surrounding community and in the hospitality community as appropriate. § Maintains all sales systems, such as sales records and reports, conference calendar, traces of history and potentials, logs of groups not previously accommodated and mailing lists. § Designs marketing programs and campaigns, to develop the local market. § Ensures the prompt and systematic servicing of business accounts (i.e., tracing, booking, contracting, communicating with hotel departments, and following up with group for feedback and future bookings). § Identifies and analyzes competition, both locally and regionally. § Other duties may be necessary and may be assigned. Qualifications: The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the position: § Excellent Communications and Presentation Skills, both written and verbal, are essential. § Strong business writing skills. Must possess basic computer skills, including, but not limited to knowledge of: Microsoft Office Applications such as Outlook, Word and Excel. § Ability to gain confidence and build rapport with customers. § Exhibit creative problem solving and strategizing. § Strong organizational skills for most effective results and efficiency. § Strong negotiating skills and decision making capabilities resourcefulness to conduct independent research and gather information to fully understand your market and strong analytical skills. § Ability to handle conflict and resolve problem situations in a levelheaded manner. § Ability to prioritize and delegate as needed. § Enthusiastic and positive attitude. § There are physical demands that may vary from day to day or task to task including, but not limited to: the ability to sit at a desk for up to 6 hours per day. Walking and standing are required the rest of the working day. This may include traveling or and from meetings and air travel. Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. occasionally. Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, pulling, pushing, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity. Length of time of these tasks may vary from day to day and task to task. | |
